LENT 2012 AT ST. JOHN’S CHURCH
Every Lent we give up some things so that we may take up other things. This year you are invited to give up whatever it is that you usually do on Wednesday evenings and join with us at St. John’s Episcopal Church for quiet evenings of contemplation and reflection upon the Gospels. Participants will gather in the Church from 7 – 8 pm each Wednesday to listen to meditative readings from Holy Scripture according the schedule below.
Candles will be lit but the electric light in the church will be kept to a minimum during this period to enhance the experience. People will be asked to come and leave in silence just as we do when we share Quiet Days together.
As the schedule below shows, the last Wednesday of the series will be somewhat different. On that day we will share the service of Stations of the Cross and a light Lenten Dinner during which we will discuss our shared and personal Lenten journeys.
If you would like to be a reader please click here to email Father Powers. Readers must prepare ahead of time and then read their selections slowly and with great dignity.
